PostHeaderIcon Finding Great Golf Gear for Older Women can be Easy

As women are getting older, they also are playing more and more golf. So its time to invest in some quality, customized golf gear for older women that will help you have an even better time on the golf course, whether you are looking to improve your game or simply spend several quality hours with some close friends.

Update your look with the latest styles in golf wear for older women. Trade in your long golf slacks for a pair of shorts in a classic cut. You dont have to be twenty to wear the newer, shorter styles of golf shorts, skirts and skorts. Also look for shorter sleeves and tops in fabrics that absorb moisture so you will feel even more comfortable and have less to worry about while you play.

If you are really looking to improve your game and maybe even break 100, invest in some great golf training aids, including videos, books and more. A golf ball retriever is a handy tool to tuck inside your golf bag; it will help reduce some of your back pain and keep you from bending down so often to pick up your golf ball. Also check out golf ball and golf club cleaning and repair kits, along with personalized accessories such as ball markers and score card holders.

Its also important to find golf clubs designed for women, especially for older women. The wrong golf clubs can cause a lot of unnecessary pain and discomfort, distracting from the enjoyment of your golf game. Look for custom fit golf clubs in lighter weight materials that still provide maximum performance.

PostHeaderIcon Making the Most of Online Golf Swing Instructions

The great thing about Internet is that it is literally a plethora of all sorts of information that any user all over the world would ever be interested in. The same thing goes for instructions on golf swing. If you are having trouble with your golf swing, then you might as well turn to the information superhighway to grab some online golf swing instructions that you can use. This way, you will not have a hard time finding the help that you very well need.

If you are practicing and executing your swing the wrong way, then it will not matter how many hours you exert each and every day. You will find that you golf swing will not become any better at all. Other times, when you go to the driving range and ask help from fellow golfers there, you just might receive the wrong instructions and tips. This means you will just be wasting your time and effort going to the golf course or driving range for these tips. You would really be better off just staying at home and browsing the web for quality online golf swing instructions.

One particular online golf swing instruction that just might come in handy pertains to head movement. A lot of people might tell you to keep your head down when you are executing your golf swing. This is not the correct way to do this at all. Rather, you should keep your eye on the ball, and you cannot effectively do this if you just keep your head down, right? Thus, keep you head held up and your eyes strictly focused on the ball and on your target area, to which you want to drive your ball to.

Another valuable piece of online golf swing instruction that you should pay attention to is to keep your body as relaxed as possible. Remember that you have to execute your golf swing in one fluid movement. How then can you do this with a rigid stance and a grip that is all too firm? Gripping your club too tightly, for instance, can even result to sliced shots so this should be one thing to look out for. Just keep your grip not too tight, yet not too loose as well. This way, you can direct your ball more accurately.

You should also pay attention to your back swing. As many online golf swing instructions would have, this is the part where you accumulate the needed power for your swing. Thus, this plays an important role as well.

PostHeaderIcon Why Doesn’t Golf Swing Instruction Last?

The very system used to teach the golf swing is the reason golfers are unable to repeat what they are taught during golf instruction even days later.

Golfers often wonder why three days after a lesson, they still struggle to hit the golf ball as well as they did during the lesson.”

Over twenty years ago, I felt the same way. I started a quest and eventually discovered the reason for golf instruction that fades. I want to make it clear that the golf instruction is NOT the problem. Although there are countless methods of swinging the golf club, the method is not what golfers should be looking for.

The problem is that with current memory methods, your mind cannot accurately keep your golf swing in memory. Here’s why.

Current golf instruction uses Muscle Memory to commit instruction into memory. There are 2 problems with the theory:
Every swing you make is different, so the feedback from the muscles is different… And, your muscles send the brain different feedback as they get tired or stiff from swinging the golf club

Simply put, your swing changes as your muscles loosen up, get tired or become stiff. Since the feedback to the brain is different for every swing, the brain doesn’t know which swing to remember. It happens to every golfer and no amount of golf swing instruction can make up for for this change.

The problem isn’t your golf swing, it’s that the brain is guessing every time you make a new golf swing. Those guesses are based on a general idea of the swing and the variety of past repetitions, but to be deadly accurate, your brain needs to have an exact map in memory for your body to follow.

So what is the answer? Is there a way to have a map in your mind? The answer is YES.

Just as an automobile has steering and brakes to keep it on the road, the body has a system to control body movement and keep you from injuring yourself. Although the system exists, it is not normally used consciously during body movement. Because the feedback this system provides doesn’t change, this internal system is perfect for remembering and recreating the most exact movement possible for any non-reaction movement, including golf.

How does it work? While your muscles change during use, your nervous system functions with little day to day change. The feedback system the nervous system provides is in use 24/7 and all you have to do is to increase your awareness of the feedback already in your body.

This system is based on balance feedback; your body’s reaction to gravity. It is how you are able to stand up and walk without falling down. Since balance is a key factor in the process of swinging the golf club, it makes sense that balance feedback is naturally the best way to keep it under control.

Why is balance so important? Because your body has a built in auto-balance mechanism that always works to keep you in balance no matter what you are doing. That means, if you start your golf swing out of balance, the body will fight you to re-balance your movement, which throws off the swing. Golfers around the world are fighting themselves during the golf swing and don’t realize they are doing it.

The best part about using balance feedback instead of muscle memory is that the only change a golfer needs to make to improve his golf swing and consistently repeat the same swing is to become aware of the signals in his body. That’s it. The rest happens automatically as you respond to balance signals and follow them to stay in balance during movement.

But, I have taken the process further by developing a way to use this same feedback to increase swing power, improve visualization during golf, and to remove distractions and keep your mind focused in the game.

Balance is most important during the setup because if you start out of balance, which most golfers do, your body will fight you the rest of your golf swing. It’s not possible to make consistent contact with the golf ball if your body is fighting you during the swing.

For a free setup routine that guarantees a powerful, balanced start for your golf swing go to setup routine.

I have broken the swing process down into a set of simple routines designed to improve your awareness to balance feedback. Once you have become aware of this feedback you can use it to improve every aspect of your golf game.

This process truly shows golfers how powerful the mind can be when it comes to golf.

PostHeaderIcon A Beginner Golf Guide – The Fastest Way to Break 100

So you’ve decided to take up golf. Great! If you stick with it you’ll have a game that you can play and enjoy well into your eighties. But before you hit the golf course there are a number of things you should learn about the game and that’s the purpose of this short beginner golf guide.

First of all know the rules and etiquette of the game. It’s not just about slamming away with golf clubs. You will probably be playing on a public course and you have to keep in mind how the way you play affects the golfers behind you and on adjacent fairways.

Imagine yourself a couple of years from now when your group gets stuck behind beginner golfers who have no idea how to play. How happy are you going to be then? As a beginner golfer, just keep up with the group in front of you and play by the rules and you’ll have a better experience.

Get some instruction on the fundamentals of the golf swing. Take a lesson, buy a book, do whatever it takes but you need to have a working knowledge of what the proper swing technique is. Without this knowledge you may just as well leave the clubs at home and play with a hockey stick as the results will be the same.

Learn the game from green to tee. Start by learning how to putt and read greens. Your putter is the club you will use the most in every round so this is the club, not your driver that you need to master first.

Work your way out from the green and master, or at least feel confident, with your pitching wedge. Odds are as a beginning golfer you won’t be hitting the greens in regulation so you want to develop a controlled golf shot from 100 yards and in.

Here’s the real secret to your success. If you can get this down you’ll be breaking 100 in no time. Develop a 150 yard shot that you can play with confidence. Now this might be an 8 iron or a fairway wood, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that when you stand over it you absolutely know the ball will go 150 yards and land where you want it to land.

Think about it for a second. How many 150 yard shots are there in a 400 yard par four? Yep, you could tee off with that club if you wanted and I will almost guarantee you will be on the green in three. If you’ve worked on your putting you will be down in two and that’s bogey golf, and that my friend is an 80 on most courses.

Are you getting excited? Can’t wait for Saturday? Just follow this guide and bring a bag of quarters. When your foursome gets together you be the one to suggest a friendly game of skins!

OK you can try to teach yourself this crazy game but you can speed up the process with a little help from a friend. Do you know the three most common mistakes beginners make in their golf swing? I have to admit when I first started I didn’t know and I was doing all three.

PostHeaderIcon Consider Golf Training to Bring Your Game up to Par

Are you one of the 80% of golfers who never break 100? Thats correct; according to statistics fewer than 1 in 5 amateur golfers ever break 100! If you fall into the category of weekend golfer who plays with the same group of players, who hits about the same score every week, with an occasional par or maybe even a birdie in your round, who loses a couple of bucks at bingo, bango, bongo or a $2.00 Nassau bet, you could likely benefit from some kind of golf training. Many golfers can improve their golf swing just by going to the driving range, many more just end up practicing the same flawed golf swing until they get really good at it. These are the golfers who really need some sort of golf training aid or program in order to improve their golfing skills.

Golf; being a lifetime sport that is accessible to almost everyone is growing by leaps and bounds. People from all around the world are joining the sport partly due to the media attention paid to some of the super stars on the PGA, LPGA and other professional tours…stars like Michelle Wie, Tiger Woods or Jack Nicklaus. Of course not everyone can play like Michelle, Tiger or Jack. Most of us feel we are lucky to make par on a hole, let alone birdie or eagle.

However we can learn a valuable lesson by paying attention to how these super stars and most other serious golfers prepare for competition. Some people think that these super stars already have all of the knowledge of the golf swing that they need. Far from it, evidenced by the large and growing cadre of golf coaches and swing guru’s that ply their trade with pro golfers. Check the bio’s of people like Rick Smith, Chuck Harmon, Dave Pelz, David Leadbetter and others too see who they are working with, you may be surprised to find the names of many of the super stars you are interested in, some of these golf coaches even travel the tour with the pro’s. If golfers of this caliber need to take lessons, and make use of swing coaches, it just makes sense that average golfers could also need help.

So what kind of instruction is available? Pick up any golf magazine or go to any of the golf superstores, go online, ask your golf course pro, you will be amazed at the variety or swing training aids, DVD or VHS lessons, books and other self help items you can find. The main question is do they work? Ask other golfers you know, they may have tried some of these items. Higher up the price scale are golf schools. There are more than 1000 golf schools listed online, in various golf magazines, they can be from half day to weeklong schools, and some include lodging and meals. They range in price from affordable to ridiculous. When searching for a golf school, check for what you can afford. Read the course syllabus to see what will be taught, look for smaller instructor to student ratios, and ask other golfers that may have gone what they gained. Finally do not overlook your local golf professional, these are golfers who have chosen to make golf course management and golf training their lifes work, many of them were amateur and/or college golf stars, some were or still are touring professionals. Ask around to find out who is really knowledgeable and good at giving instruction in your area. You will most likely find that one or two names come up more often than others. Schedule a lesson or a series of lessons.

Most importantly whatever method of golf training you choose, practice what you learn; if it does not work as well as you had hoped, try again, leaning is a lifelong experience. If you take the time to learn how to play the game and really improve your golf swing, you can look forward to many years of a satisfying sport, rather than years of frustration.
